Summary:
The successful candidate will work within the Continence Care Research and Development team to demonstrate the benefits of Hollister’s current intermittent catheter portfolio and to design next-generation products. Candidates should have a background in cell biology to understand the impact of product materials on urethral physiology and health. Knowledge of microbiologic techniques is a plus, as preventing urinary tract infections is critical for intermittent catheter users. The candidate will develop clinically relevant test methods to understand urethral biology and infection prevention. They will interface with senior management across research, marketing, and commercial organizations to support product claims, educate customers, and develop new products.
Responsibilities:
* Establish expertise in urethral biology and health within Hollister.
* Develop or collaborate externally to create clinically relevant test methods related to urethral health and infection prevention.
* Research new technologies and develop solutions for new product platforms.
* Become a subject matter expert on physiological mechanisms critical to urethral health.
* Provide technical support to New Product Development, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
* Manage project schedules, conduct risk analyses, and ensure timely completion of activities.
* Prepare justifications for financial approvals and communicate effectively.
* Review vendor products for suitability in future products.
Technical Responsibilities:
* Lead cell biology and technology development projects individually and as a team leader.
* Identify and develop new technologies and biological indicators of urethral health.
* Manage timelines, budgets, and performance expectations.
* Ensure successful integration of new technologies into commercial products.
* Source and evaluate materials, components, vendors, and partners.
* Support patent searches and patent application preparation with legal counsel.
Qualifications:
Academic Credentials:
* Minimum Level 8 Degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Science/Engineering, or Microbiology.
* A Master’s or Ph.D. in Biomedical Science/Engineering focusing on cell biology is advantageous.
Experience:
* B.S. +8 years / M.S. +6 years / Ph.D. +3 years relevant industry experience, preferably in medical devices.
Skills and Knowledge:
* Deep knowledge of cell biology and biotechnology related to the urinary system.
* Innovative thinker with a demonstrated ability to explore novel concepts.
* Experience interacting with medical personnel and translating feedback into device concepts.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Motivated team player.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
* Knowledge of medical device quality, regulatory systems, and directives.
