Location: Pottery Rd, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin
Job Purpose:
To manage the day-to-day operations of the catering service within a facilities management contract, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective food and beverage services. The role includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining excellent client relationships, and supporting the wider facilities team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all catering operations on site, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
* Lead and manage the catering team, including rotas, recruitment, training, and performance.
* Monitor and manage catering budgets, cost controls, and stock levels to ensure financial targets are met.
* Maintain compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and company policies at all times.
* Develop menus in collaboration with the client and culinary team, ensuring variety, nutrition, and customer satisfaction.
* Build strong working relationships with the client and other service managers on-site.
* Conduct regular quality checks, audits, and customer feedback assessments to maintain standards and improve service.
* Support company initiatives around sustainability, food waste reduction, and healthy eating.
* Ensure staff are trained on allergens, food safety, and operational procedures.
* Handle customer queries, complaints, and special dietary requests with professionalism and care.
Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Catering or Hospitality Manager, preferably within a facilities or contract catering environment.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
* Solid understanding of food hygiene standards (Level 3 Food Safety qualification preferred).
* Good knowledge of budget management and financial controls.
* Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
* Flexible and adaptable approach to work and team collaboration.
Qualifications:
* Food Safety and Hygiene certification (minimum Level 2; Level 3 preferred)
* Health & Safety training (e.g. COSHH, Manual Handling)
* NVQ or diploma in hospitality or catering management (desirable)
Person Requirements:
* Excellent communication skills
* Strong management / Problem solving skills
* Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage food costings and ensure budgets are met
* Diploma/Degree in Culinary Arts/Catering/Professional Cookery and/or 3 years' operational experience at least two of which were at management or head chef level in food service/restaurant operation
* Excellent Computer Literacy
* Flexible & adaptable
* Understanding of all relevant health and safety legislation
* Experience of budget management and financial analysis
* You will be enthusiastic and self-motivating and can handle multiple tasks in a customer focused environment.
