Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position #003243 Postdoctoral Researcher in Solar Astrophysics, 4 Year Fixed Term Contract.
A 4-year postdoctoral position in the field of solar astrophysics is available in the School of Physical Sciences, Dublin City University in the group of Dr David Long.
This position is funded as part of the project the Research Ireland Frontiers for the Future Project "SEP Origins" and will focus on modelling the expected spectroscopic signatures of plasma fractionation processes at different heights in the solar atmosphere.
The successful candidate will work with the PI and his team to predict and identify spectroscopic signatures of plasma fractionation processes and associated energetic seed particle populations in the low solar atmosphere.
This will be done using observations from space-based missions such as Hinode/EIS, IRIS, and Solar Orbiter SPICE, and will include utilising machine learning techniques to examine and exploit archival and future data from these missions.
The role requires a proven ability to carry out research projects with a degree of independence, as well as strong team-working skills.
The successful candidate will have collaboration, supervision and teaching opportunities, and will be expected to present at major international conferences.

Salary
Salary Scale: IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale: €46,805 – €59,654 (Point 1 – Point 10)
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
