We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in the professional and operational leadership of Bishopscourt Nursing Home.
The Role
As Assistant Director of Nursing, you will play a key leadership role in the day-to-day running of the nursing home, supporting the Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, HIQA-compliant care.
This role is ideal for a confident and compassionate nurse leader who is passionate about older person care, dementia care, and developing teams, and who can lead by example while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
What You'll Do
· Support the Director of Nursing in the clinical, operational, and strategic management of the nursing home.
· Provide visible, professional leadership to nursing, care, and multidisciplinary teams.
· Ensure high standards of resident-centred care, dignity, privacy, and safety are consistently upheld.
· Oversee care planning, assessments, and reviews in line with HIQA standards.
· Support safeguarding practices and manage incidents, risks, and complaints appropriately.
· Promote a restraint-free environment and best practice in dementia and end-of-life care.
· Lead and support staff development, supervision, and performance management.
· Contribute to audits, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
· Deputise for the Director of Nursing when required, including acting as Person in Charge in their absence.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
· Registered General Nurse with NMBI registration.
· Minimum 3 years post-registration experience, including at least 2 years in care of the older person.
· Management experience in a healthcare or social care setting.
· Post-registration qualification in dementia care.
· Post-registration management qualification in health or a related field.
· Strong knowledge of HIQA standards, safeguarding, and clinical governance.
Desirable:
· Postgraduate qualification in Gerontology (or working towards).
· Strong IT skills and experience with audits and quality systems.
