Overview
Senior/ Principal Engineer (Roads) role at WSP. The Ireland Roads Team is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in either our Dublin or Limerick office. The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate. The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project, Public Transport schemes including Dublin Metrolink, Cork BusConnects and Active Travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities. A client-facing position with a track record of delivering schemes in the local or national transport arena is required.
Responsibilities
* Managing projects to ensure coordination and compatibility of multi-disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.
* Liaising with clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing expectations and advising them.
* Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles.
* Use technical ability and experience to develop staff.
* Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects.
* Develop and deliver discrete and overall project solutions; lead and manage other staff in the delivery of design drawings, standard construction details, specifications and bill of quantities, and support tender package preparation.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation and in-house quality assurance standards/processes.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Project management and technical delivery lead of Road or Public Transport/Active Travel schemes, with experience of Transport Infrastructure Ireland/National Transport Authority/Local Authority procedures.
* Experience with contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts.
* Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution.
* Experience or knowledge of alignment and drainage design software (e.g., Civil3D/Open Roads/MX and WinDes) preferred but not essential.
* Strong communication, client management and interpersonal skills.
* Chartered Civil Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with extensive post qualification experience.
* Understanding and application of current design standards (Urban Street/Active Travel Design, DMURS, Traffic Signs Manual, Cycle Design Manual, Highway Geometric Design, TII/NTA guidelines).
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
