And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.The AWS Data Center Technical Services (DCTS) and Engineering Team is a new fast‑growing and leading‑edge research and development team that is rethinking the design for the critical arteries that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS’ data centers and edge sites.As a member of this team, you will work directly with engineers and managers across the company to develop capacity management solutions for the physical layer. You will also work with industry suppliers and startups to develop requirements and recommend new technology.Key job responsibilitiesEnsure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designsDevelop an automated solution for how we route and utilize our physical layerCollaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver designs that meet capacity and network requirements and turn‑up timelinesIdentify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues rapidly and effectivelySupport New Product Introduction activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation timeTravel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data CentersBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldExperience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass productionExperience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating SystemsExperience with power management and power monitoring systemsPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of critical data center equipmentKnowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating proceduresKnowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHAExperience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructureExperience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructureExperience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domainsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, or other legally protected status.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
