Senior Web Developer / Programmer
Location: Hybrid – Primarily remote with occasional onsite attendance - Dublin 1.
Start Date: Estimated November 2025
Contract Duration: Initial 3-month, 4 days per week, with potential extension based on project needs.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Web Developer to support the development and enhancement of mission-critical software systems. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with the majority of work completed remotely and occasional onsite attendance (1 day per week during the first month, then 1–2 times per month as required).
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced developer to take ownership of complex software development tasks, contribute to strategic data management systems, and help establish best practices in software engineering.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Developing and maintaining PHP-based systems, including enhancements to core applications and supporting ICT systems.
* Establishing and maintaining a Git repository for source code.
* Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
* Updating and modifying existing codebases to streamline services.
* Administering and enhancing existing SEAS systems and associated databases.
* Performing data cleansing to improve system performance.
* Administering and patching Apache servers.
* Building web portals integrated with SEAS/Oracle databases.
* Developing APIs and integrating systems with third-party platforms (e.g., Freshdesk, OpenData portals).
* Documenting technical processes and producing end-user materials.
* Delivering training sessions for users.
Mandatory Requirements
* 7 years of experience - Senior-level expertise equivalent to Level 3 resource.
* Fluent in English.
Native speakers: CV should state this.
Non-native speakers: Either CEFR Level C2 certificate or equivalent fluency (to be verified if shortlisted).
Essential Skills & Competencies
* Advanced PHP (OOP & Procedural): Proficiency with PHP 7/8, namespaces, traits, and design patterns.
* Frameworks: Strong experience with major PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, or Zend.
* Database Management: Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis); Proficient in MySQL/PostgreSQL (queries, indexing, optimization).
* APIs & Web Services: RESTful API design and consumption; GraphQL knowledge is a plus.
* Frontend Integration: Solid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and Experience with, React, or Angular.
* Version Control: Proficient with Git (branching, pull requests, conflict resolution).
* Testing: Unit testing (PHPUnit), integration, and functional testing.
Architectural & DevOps Knowledge
* Architecture: MVC, SOLID principles, SOA, microservices.
* Design Patterns: Factory, Singleton, Observer, Repository, etc.
* CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI.
* Containerization & Deployment: Docker, Kubernetes, Apache/Nginx configuration.
* Cloud Services: AWS, Azure, or DigitalOcean (EC2, S3, RDS).
