As a Product Regulatory Engineer, you will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of a global regulatory compliance strategy across diverse product lines. You'll work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and commercial teams to ensure all products meet stringent safety, performance, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive global regulatory compliance strategy.
* Monitor and interpret emerging international regulations and standards relevant to fire and CO detection technologies.
* Advise internal teams across the product lifecycle—from concept to end-of-life.
* Identify regulatory risks and opportunities; implement mitigation plans.
* Manage end-to-end product approval and certification processes for all global markets.
* Prepare and submit technical files, test reports, and declarations of conformity.
* Coordinate product testing with internal and external laboratories.
* Maintain all certifications, licences, and declarations to ensure continuing compliance.
* Lead audits, inspections, assessments, and corrective actions.
* Respond to regulatory inquiries, negotiate timelines, and resolve compliance issues.
* Collaborate with Quality to embed regulatory requirements into the QMS.
* Deliver training on regulatory expectations and best practices.
* Ensure labelling, manuals, and marketing materials meet regulatory standards.
* Track and assess design or component changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
* Coordinate recall or corrective action activities where required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Law, or related technical discipline.
* 3+ years' experience in a dedicated regulatory role within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong working knowledge of global regulatory frameworks: CPR, RED, LVD, EMC, RoHS, WEEE, REACH, UKCA, UL, BSI, VdS, etc.
* Proven track record managing complex approval processes, including Notified Body interactions.
* Solid understanding of quality systems such as ISO 9001.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Highly organised, detail-driven, and effective at managing multiple priorities.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently or within teams.
Desirable
* Experience in fire-safety or security industries.
* Experience with global market access strategy.
* Legal or regulatory affairs qualification.
* Additional language skills are beneficial to international markets.
