Optum, a global leader in technology‑driven healthcare, invites you to join our data analytics team in Dublin or Letterkenny as a Senior Data Analyst. In this role, you will design, develop, and automate analytic solutions that improve claims processing, support payer and provider markets, and drive data‑driven decision making at scale.
Senior Data Analyst – Dublin or Letterkenny
Primary Responsibilities
* Research potential auto‑load scenarios using SOPs to identify claims eligible for full automation.
* Collaborate with the data science team to build LLM/agentic solutions that source missing data from unstructured data streams.
* Identify and refine criteria to build and enhance analytic logic, ensuring correct claim coordination.
* Lead specification development, coordinating with business stakeholders to capture requirements that are complete, consistent, concise, and achievable.
* Translate key analytic findings into BRD documents for data engineering and business teams.
* Manage time and resources, prioritizing work on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Write technical specifications for data manipulation, trend analysis, and exploratory data analysis.
* Consult with business analysts, domain SMEs, data scientists, and subject matter experts to incorporate medical and business content into analytic approaches.
* Deliver robust, scalable analytic solutions in an automated state for payers and provider markets.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Healthcare, Clinical Research, or equivalent technical experience.
* Proven extensive experience in data analytics and claims processes.
* In‑depth understanding of healthcare payment integrity, claim lifecycle, adjudication, and pre‑adjudication.
* Proficiency with analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint) and ability to handle medium to large data sets.
* SQL or Python knowledge is desirable.
* Experience in research and stakeholder engagement to understand workflow variations.
Preferred Qualifications
* Medical coding or clinical certification (CPC, CPC‑H, or equivalent).
* Agile development experience (Scrum or other frameworks).
* Experience with UNET (PCOMM), ISET applications, and related Optum internal platforms.
* Knowledge of Engineering & Integration or Maintenance & Repair claims processing and coordination of benefits.

* Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
