Contract: Ongoing Temporary Assignment (3–6 months initially)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – flexible start/finish times (core hours 10:00–16:30)
Annual Leave: 23 days annual leave

About the Role
We’re recruiting a Temporary Engineering Stores Operative (Stock Controller) to support the Supply Chain team at a leading building materials manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a world-class organisation known for innovation, quality, and a strong focus on safety and sustainability.
The role is primarily office-based but involves regular movement between the stores and production areas to check and maintain stock. You’ll play a key part in ensuring that engineering parts, PPE, and maintenance materials are available when needed — helping to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage engineering stores stock levels and perform regular stock counts.
* Order engineering components, consumables, and PPE as required.
* Expedite deliveries and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of goods.
* Book in deliveries, receipt materials in SAP, and maintain accurate stock records.
* Create and update stock codes and maintain data integrity within the system.
* Work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to understand requirements.
* Uphold 5S standards within the stores area.
* Support continuous improvement and lean initiatives across the site.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is methodical, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment. You’ll be confident using digital tools and ERP systems, and you’ll take pride in keeping processes organised and efficient.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in stock control, stores, or supply chain administration.
* Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
* Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system is highly desirable.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills – able to work with internal teams and external suppliers.
* A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
