The project spans 4 years: 12 months at University of Galway, 24 months at JRC in Ispra, Italy, and 12 months back at University of Galway.
Project Description
The Data Spaces group researches intelligent information systems, large-scale decentralised architectures, data semantics, and dynamic data.
This PhD will investigate AI-enabled tools and techniques to reduce the burden of making data available in public infrastructures, enabling scaling of participation in data spaces by reducing costs of making data FAIR and AI-ready.
Funding & Stipend
University of Galway period stipend: tax-free €25,000 per annum, tuition fee coverage, conference travel funds, equipment allowance.
JRC period: employed as Grantholder Category 20; annual gross salary approximately €45,000, subject to national income tax.
University fees covered for 4 years.
Academic Entry Requirements
At least a 2.1 (Hons) degree and/or a Masters in Computer Science or related discipline (or last-year PhD candidate expected to finish in summer).
Nationality of an EU Member State or an associated Research Framework Programme country, or EU resident for =5 years.
