Responsibilities:
* Carry out routine laboratory testing and sampling
* Verify cleaning using microbiological swabbing
* Carry out microbiological testing and Trichinella testing
* Monitor carcass quality
* Communicate with and report to customer requests for technical information
* Maintain and update laboratory procedures manual
* Ensure daily tasks are completed and results are actioned where required
* Review results records weekly, ensuring accuracy and proper sign-off
* Generate weekly reports for QA Manager and Veterinary Inspector
* Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and legislation, liaising with DAFF and DAFM officials
* Manage corrective and preventative actions, non-conforming products, and adherence to customer specifications
* Implement and maintain HACCP and hygiene requirements
* Review product and process development
* Manage sanitation and cleaning procedures
* Assist in managing the food safety and quality management system
* Maintain standards such as BRC, Bord Bia MPQAS, and retailer/customer standards for third-party accreditation
* Perform other tasks as assigned by the company and QA manager
Skills and Qualifications:
* Relevant qualification in Science or Agriculture
* At least 2 years' experience in QA within a food factory environment
* Teamwork, attention to detail, communication skills, laboratory experience, and knowledge of quality assurance
