The Cloud First team in Ireland helps companies implement cloud-first strategies to accelerate change across the human, technology, and business dimensions of their enterprise. They focus on breaking down complex cloud journeys into three steps: Migrate, Accelerate, Grow, and Innovate.
We are seeking a new practitioner to join the Cloud First Growth Team with a speciality in AWS Cloud Architecture based out of our Cork Office.
The Opportunity
As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based applications and infrastructure. The role requires a thorough understanding of cloud service providers, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and others. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cloud architecture, automation, security, and support, combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
1. Cloud Architecture and Design: Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructures based on business requirements. Analyze existing workflows and recommend enhancements or migration paths to the cloud.
2. Implementation and Deployment: Build and configure cloud environments, leveraging IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. Automate deployment processes for efficiency and repeatability.
3. Monitoring and Maintenance: Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. Optimize performance, ensure uptime, and troubleshoot issues.
4. Security and Compliance: Implement security controls protecting data and resources. Work with relevant compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
5. Cost Optimization: Track cloud usage and spending. Identify cost-saving opportunities and resource optimizations.
6. Collaboration: Work with developers, sysadmins, DevOps, and stakeholders. Serve as a cloud technology expert.
7. Documentation: Maintain documentation for cloud systems, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on new cloud technologies and practices. Seek ways to improve system reliability, performance, and security.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
* Experience in utilities and energy sectors is essential.
* Oracle & Azure with 10+ years experience and at least 5+ years in utilities.
* Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
* Proficiency with Azure, multi-cloud, hybrid cloud, and tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM.
* Scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell.
* Strong Linux and Windows server knowledge.
* Understanding of networking, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, security, and problem-solving.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
* Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* Experience with serverless, databases, agile, DevOps, and application development.
* Knowledge of ArcGIS, C2M, Trimble, NTS, LIMS, OCI, and other specific applications is beneficial.
