Principal Ecologist Position
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Ecologist to join our expanding environmental team in Galway, Ireland. This role will involve leading a range of infrastructure projects, particularly in coordinating Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and statutory consent applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing designs for wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network infrastructure, as well as preparing feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations.
A key aspect of this position will be compiling specifications and tender documents, as well as preparing planning application documents. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including clients and contractors.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Relevant third-level degree (Level 8 or higher)
* At least 6 years' post-qualification experience
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
* Experience in delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIARs)

Others
A strong understanding of the consent and licensing frameworks for terrestrial and offshore infrastructure in Ireland is essential. Experience in one or more technical areas of relevance to EIA, such as aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, ornithology, and experience of consent management and compliance are highly desirable. Strong technical report writing skills, excellent planning, project management, and leadership skills are also essential for this role.
