SAFETY & HEALTH REPRESENTATIVE (Client Facing) – Dublin

This position is site based.
Description and Details:
The ideal candidate will bring a motivated and solution-oriented approach to the development and implementation of a safety management system for maintenance activities on a healthcare campus. With a background in small works projects and a strong technical foundation, this professional will collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. They possess exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and are able to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
* Assessing current organizational structures and work practices within a healthcare maintenance and small works environment.
* Evaluating potential hazards and conducting thorough risk assessments
* Implementing measures to mitigate identified risks
* Providing comprehensive health and safety education and support to employees, managers, and third-party contractors
* Developing operational procedures and crafting internal health and safety policies, strategies, contractor’s codes and safe operating procedures
* Advising the client on their compliance with the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations and addressing any concerns
* Evaluating contractors' competence for construction projects
* Conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety measures during construction works
* Creating essential safety documentation, such as safety statements, contractor codes, and standard operating procedures
* Collaborating with a supportive Head office team and receiving guidance as needed
* Maintaining regular communication and reporting to an off-site supervisor
Requirements
* Education: Degree in Engineering or a related construction discipline with recognized Safety and Health training (ideally post graduate Diploma level, but not essential)
* Experience: Experienced in successful delivery of healthcare projects
* Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
* Desirable: Chartered Member of Engineers Ireland, IOSH or similar
* Desirable: Experience of developing / implementing safety management systems (to Safe T Cert, ISO 45001 or OHAS 18001)
* Desirable: Experience of acute healthcare campus environment
