As Product Quality Engineer, you will work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams, supporting both new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities. You’ll play a critical role in identifying and mitigating design-related quality risks, particularly in electronic and embedded systems.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with R&D to assess and influence electronic product designs for quality, reliability, and regulatory complianceReview and evaluate electronic schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware specifications to identify potential quality risksLead and support Design FMEA (DFMEA) and design-related root cause investigationsProvide quality input into hardware and software testing, including embedded systems and firmware functionalitySupport new vendor and electronic component approvals, working closely with Purchasing and EngineeringPerform statistical analysis of parametric and test data to identify trends and risksAct as technical quality support for Production, Test Engineering, and Process Quality, resolving product-related issuesEnsure design traceability, documentation, and compliance with regulatory and internal standardsRepresent Quality in design reviews and product development meetingsSupport audits and regulatory inspections related to design controlsDrive continuous improvement in electronic design quality and development processesQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Electronic, Electrical, Software Engineering or related discipline5+ years’ experience in a Quality or R&D role within a regulated industry (medical devices, aerospace, automotive, life safety, etc.)Strong understanding of electronic product development lifecycles and design controlsExperience working with hardware / firmware integrationFamiliarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality standardsStrong ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and circuit designsExperience with DFMEA, risk management, and root cause analysisKnowledge of embedded systems, firmware, or low-level softwareComfortable working with PCBs, electronic components, and test dataAbility to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and validation resultsExcellent cross-functional communication skills between Quality, R&D, and OperationsFor a confidential conversation about the role please apply for the role or contact Owen Clancy at oclancy@sterlingengineeringeu.com By applying to this job post you agree that Sterling Engineering may process your personal data for recruitment purpose.
