Job Description
Provides for the smooth operation of the Department by repairing and maintaining fixtures, furniture, appliances, machinery, and mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
Job Responsibilities
1. Performs a variety of maintenance duties:
* Performs preventive maintenance procedures.
* Performs simpler skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
* Repairs furniture and equipment in the shop and at various locations, including minor repairs like adjusting doors, hinges, faucets, and drains.
* Constructs or reconstructs simple equipment, such as stands and attachments, and anchors objects to masonry or walls.
* Installs new equipment as directed and performs wheel and caster work on rolling stock.
* Performs miscellaneous handyman jobs, not at the full craft level of electrician or carpenter.
* Follows standing orders, exercising judgment to ensure quality and completeness, and shows initiative to prevent property loss.
* Conducts routine inspections and inventories parts, requisitioning supplies as needed.
1. Completes work orders:
* Fills out work order tickets as part of quality assurance.
* Properly installs and repairs hospital equipment, such as electrical outlets, switches, sinks, toilets, beds, and fire extinguishers.
* Assists Foremen and Leads as requested.
* Keeps management informed of activities, needs, and issues within the Department.
2. Performs emergency repairs:
* Responds to emergency situations and assists in resolving them.
* Repairs doors and windows damaged by wind or storms.
* Performs other emergency repairs as deemed necessary by management.
* Assists in establishing procedures for foreseeable emergencies.
* Participates in hospital and department safety seminars and lectures.
3. Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Vocational training with courses in Blueprint Reading.
* Minimum of three (3) years as a mechanic in a related field.
* Knowledge of general mechanics, including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical repair, refrigeration, and HVAC, is required.
