Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Board Member with Legal Expertise. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a positive impact in the community.
The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance and assistance on legal matters, assist the management team in reviewing and updating policies and procedures, and actively participate in board meetings. They will also commit to serving on at least one subcommittee and contribute to the development and implementation of our strategic aims.
This role requires a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years' experience, preferably in the charity/not-for-profit sector. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Irish law, regulations, and governance frameworks applicable to the not-for-profit sector. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential, as well as excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Benefits:
This is a voluntary role, and no remuneration is given to board members. However, the organisation will meet any out-of-pocket expenses incurred in fulfilling the role. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of our organisation.
Others:
The term of office for this role is three years, subject to satisfactory review and board approval. There will be an annual performance review at the end of the first year, and the role may continue for an additional period of three years. All board members are required to complete a Conflict of Interest Declaration Form on Induction and work in line with the Governance Handbook and the organisation's policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality and data protection.
