About the Role
The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for providing expert support and guidance on all health and safety matters within a busy production environment. Working closely with local and regional teams, this role will focus on compliance, risk management, and the continuous improvement of site safety performance and culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify, assess, and mitigate health and safety risks across the site.
* Support H&S objectives in alignment with regional strategies and operational goals.
* Lead and assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Irish and EU health and safety legislation.
* Ensure compliance with internal and external H&S requirements, including documentation and reporting.
* Conduct regular inspections and audits, tracking the completion of corrective and preventive actions.
* Provide regular reporting on safety performance, metrics, and incident trends to senior and regional management.
* Support the implementation of the company’s H&S strategic plan and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Raise purchase orders (POs) and manage documentation through internal systems as required.
Candidate Requirements
* Higher Diploma (NFQ Level 7 or 8) or Degree in a relevant discipline.
* Chartered Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent professional status.
* Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar H&S role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
* Strong presentation and training delivery skills, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation abilities.
* Highly motivated, proactive, and resilient, with a hands‑on approach to safety management.
