Our client is a leading tier‑1 Irish main contractor are currently seeking a Senior EHS Advisor for a large building project in Dublin City.
Requirements
The senior EHS advisor will lead an EHS team and project team on all matters relating to EHS.
The Senior EHS Lead is responsible for overseeing and implementing all Environment, Health, and Safety management systems on a construction site.
The role ensures that site operations comply with legal, client, and corporate EHS requirements and that a proactive safety culture is embedded across all levels of the project team and subcontractors.
The position requires relevant experience and construction knowledge enabling strong foresight to anticipate potential risks and have the initiative to implement preventive and innovative EHS solutions before issues arise.
As a key member of the site leadership team, this individual will lead both the EHS team and influence the wider project team to uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.
Key Duties
Manage all EHS aspects for a PSCS.
Implement the company's health, safety, and environmental policy, procedures and management systems in line with our ISO 45001 SMS and ISO 14001 EMS.
Provide strong and visible safety leadership, guiding and motivating the EHS team, project team and the site workforce.
Lead by example and promote a culture where safety is integral to every task and decision.
Apply foresight and initiative to anticipate hazards, identify trends, and prevent incidents before they occur.
Collaborate with the Project Director, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to integrate EHS standards throughout all phases of the project.
Represent the project in EHS matters with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation, as well as client and corporate requirements.
Develop, implement, and maintain the site‑specific EHS Management Plan and risk control measures.
Lead inspections, audits, and performance reviews, ensuring findings are addressed promptly and effectively.
Oversee incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Use strategic foresight to identify potential high‑risk activities and emerging hazards.
Ensure effective risk assessments, method statements, and control measures are implemented.
Embed EHS considerations into planning, design, and construction processes to eliminate or mitigate risks at source.
Lead the development and execution of the EHS training matrix and competency framework.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and leadership walks to reinforce proactive safety behaviours.
Encourage initiative and accountability among supervisors, subcontractors, and workers.
Foster an open, inclusive safety culture where all team members contribute to improvement efforts.
Track, analyse, and report key EHS performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management and stakeholders.
Take initiative in identifying and implementing industry best practices to enhance overall EHS performance.
Provide advice, guidance and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, EHS, safety representatives and employees (including sub‑contractors where appropriate).
Advise and assist site management in drafting and communicating method statements, Safe Plans of Action and Toolbox Talks.
Skills / Experience required for the role
 * Minimum Level 8 higher Diploma OR bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or equivalent.
 * Minimum 8-10 years previous experience working in construction with a main contractor/ PSCS.
 * Must have previous experience on a large sale project.
 * Hold a full, clean driving license.
 * Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including strong excel and power point skills.
