Join SYSTRA as a Senior Engineer in Rail & Highways Civil Engineering Design!
The Senior Engineer will be a technical lead on key transport infrastructure engineering design projects during a period of investment and growth in Ireland. Based in our Dublin office, you will inspire and expand the skills of the team, ensure project delivery through engagement with Project Managers, and promote innovative and sustainable engineering solutions based on a right first-time principle.
The Senior Engineer will support the leadership and management of Engineers, Graduates, and Technicians to deliver projects efficiently, meeting client and business needs, while applying company procedures to promote health, safety, and wellbeing.
Support the Ireland Engineering Lead and Head of Civil Engineering in delivering excellence and implementing SYSTRA policies and procedures effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead design projects and team members to meet client commitments.
Perform duties of designer as per the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
Act as designer, checker, and approver on projects.
Lead civils engineering schemes in the transport sector.
Deliver projects to quality, time, and budget requirements.
Monitor project and team performance, taking corrective actions as needed.
Manage checking and approval processes to ensure compliance.
Possess knowledge of drainage designs within linear infrastructure.
Support sales efforts through client engagement.
Contribute to bids through pricing, resourcing, and tender responses.
Report financial progress and take corrective actions as Civils Lead Engineer.
Develop staff skills to meet business objectives.
Manage stakeholder relationships.
Ensure safety and wellbeing procedures are followed.
Experience Required:
Membership of a relevant professional institution.
Chartered Engineer status.
Significant experience in infrastructure civil engineering design, ideally in rail.
Knowledge of civil design principles and standards.
Experience working with contractors in design and build environments.
Familiarity with Irish rail sector procedures (NTA, TII, TFI, IÉ).
Understanding of contract conditions and procedures.
Knowledge of safety, health, and welfare regulations.
Skills in programming, delivery, budgeting, and scheduling.
Line management experience is desirable.
Proficiency in Eurocodes and computer analysis programs.
Excellent command of English and communication skills.
