Role Overview
You will lead the user experience and interface design for secure applications, ensuring usability, accessibility, aesthetics, and compliance with high security / BQA / NATO constraints. You will partner with product, security, engineering, and compliance teams to deliver designs that meet strict standards without compromise.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full UI/UX design cycle: research, user journeys, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and delivery
* Translate security, compliance, accessibility, and usability requirements into design solutions
* Design with a security mindset (least privilege, visibility, error states, alerts)
* Produce high-fidelity prototypes and design assets consistent with brand, accessibility, and security guidelines
* Collaborate with engineering, product, security, and QA to ensure designs are implemented faithfully
* Conduct usability testing, feedback cycles, iteration, and validation
* Maintain design system, component library, and UX guidelines under strict standards
* Document design rationale, constraints, and trade-offs
* Present designs and decisions to stakeholders, auditors, and clients
Mandatory Requirements
1. Domain / High‑Security Experience
o Minimum 5+ years of UI/UX design experience in regulated, security, defense, or government environments
o Prior work on design projects for NATO / defense / BQA / classified or highly constrained domains
2. Design & Research Mastery
o Strong experience in user research, persona building, journey maps, wireframing, prototyping (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.)
o Deep ability to design responsive, accessible, user-friendly interfaces under complex constraints
3. Security & Compliance Aware Design
o Experience designing UIs under strict security requirements (e.g. alerting, permissions, audit, logs)
o Ability to embed security cues, error states, warnings, and validation securely and clearly
4. Interaction & Visual Design Skills
o Excellent visual design skills: typography, layout, color theory, iconography, UI components
o Fluent in design systems and component reuse, modular UI, responsive & adaptive design
5. Collaboration & Implementation Sensibility
o Experience collaborating with front‑end engineers; ability to deliver assets, specs, redlines, handoffs
o Understanding of front‑end constraints (HTML/CSS, responsive behavior, performance)
6. Usability & Testing
o Experience conducting usability tests, gathering metrics, iterating based on feedback
o Ability to analyze user behavior, feedback loops, A/B testing
7. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
o Strong written and verbal English
o Ability to articulate design decisions, trade-offs, security concerns to non‑design stakeholders
8. Process & Documentation Discipline
o Comfortable in environments with audits, version control, approval workflows, documentation standards
o Meticulous attention to detail
9. Logistics & Eligibility
o Based in Europe (or legally contractible)
o Willing and able to undergo background checks, security clearance if required
Preferred (Not Mandatory)
* Direct UI/UX experience on NATO / BQA / defense contracts
* Experience designing for real‑time, mission‑critical systems or dashboards
* Knowledge of domain‑specific UI constraints (e.g. geo‑data, mapping, situational awareness)
* Experience with animation, micro‑interactions, or advanced prototyping
* Usability / UX certifications or formal UX education
What We Offer
* Competitive contract compensation
* Fully remote (Europe)
* Long‑term, meaningful engagement
* Opportunity to impact the usability and security of high‑stakes systems
* Professional standards, structure, and high expectations
Application Instructions
To be considered, please submit:
* CV / resume clearly demonstrating UI/UX work in secure / regulated / defense environments
* Cover letter explaining how you meet each mandatory requirement
* Portfolio of past UI/UX designs, including prototypes, journeys, rationale, and security‑constrained work
* References or contacts able to substantiate your design experience under secure/regulated domains
Note: Only applications that clearly and specifically demonstrate you satisfy all mandatory requirements will be reviewed.
