Overall Purpose of the Job

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
Act under the supervision of Medical Consultants to provide a medical service and support the consultants in their duties.
Complete the admission process for patients attending the emergency department, including comprehensive documented hospital admission and plan of care in the medical record.
Attend daily ward rounds with the medical team and take hand‑over of patients from the previous shift to ensure continuity of care.
Review patients regularly in accordance with the plan of care, inform the consultant of any issues or problems, and document findings in clinical notes in a timely and legible manner.
Order investigations (radiology, laboratory tests, function tests, etc.) as required by the patient plan of care.
Respond to any adverse occurrences (e.g., injuries, falls, sudden illnesses) suffered by patients, visitors or staff.
Contribute to quality improvement, risk management initiatives, clinical audits and policy development so that the overall Internal Medicine Service is of the highest quality and reflective of best practice.
Participate in work‑related projects at Beacon Hospital as requested by the team lead.
Act and behave professionally, optimising patient care and protecting the reputation of Beacon Hospital.
Adhere to hospital policies and procedures (JCI, Code Blue, infection control, work hours and overtime).
Undertake other duties as required, which may include assisting medical colleagues throughout the hospital and acting as a resource for more junior colleagues.
Qualifications
Current Full Irish Medical Council Registration.
MRCP or equivalent is desirable.
Post‑graduate experience: Minimum 3 years.
Current ACLS certification.
