A leading manufacturing facility based in Dublin is seeking a skilled and motivated
Automation Engineer
to support and enhance automated manufacturing systems. This role offers hands-on exposure to advanced automation technologies, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced production environment.
The Automation Engineer will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, improving process efficiency, and supporting the implementation of new automation solutions that drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the design, installation, commissioning, and validation of automated manufacturing equipment.
* Provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving automation systems and plant equipment.
* Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimise manufacturing processes.
* Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA/RCCA) to resolve equipment and process issues.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, schematics, user requirement specifications (URS), and validation documentation.
* Support automation-related projects, contributing to scope definition, timelines, and cost estimates.
* Assist in the selection, quotation, and implementation of automation equipment, services, and system upgrades.
* Support the delivery of technical training for operators and technicians on automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, servos, and pneumatics.
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards across all automation activities.
* Liaise with external vendors and system integrators to support automation projects and equipment performance.
* Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and throughput.
Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline (required)
* Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt (desirable)
* Relevant automation or controls certifications (advantageous)
Experience Required
* 2–5 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Experience with industrial automation systems such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and motion control
* Exposure to CAD systems and manufacturing systems (e.g., SAP or similar) is desirable
* Experience supporting equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, or improvement projects
