Senior Facilities Engineer
Responsible for managing and maintaining the site's electrical infrastructure, life safety, and security systems, ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, and accurate documentation. The role involves coordinating with maintenance teams, vendors, and system coordinators to support all facility operations.
Responsibilities
1. Manage maintenance of the electrical infrastructure on site through the site's computerised asset management system in coordination with the system coordinator and on-site electrical maintenance team
2. Manage maintenance of Life Safety systems, including fire detection, fire suppression, emergency lighting, and security systems through the site's computerised asset management system in coordination with the system coordinator, vendors, and on-site maintenance teams
3. Oversee day-to-day operation of the security access control system, approving all adds, moves, and deletions
4. Manage all electrical infrastructural change requests, including power, IT, life safety, and security systems, ensuring all changes are captured in the asset management system and recorded on site drawings
5. Support the Facilities team in maintaining asset information and assessing equipment condition annually
6. Plan, design, and oversee reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities
7. Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, regulatory restrictions, required completion dates, and construction feasibility
8. Coordinate with architecture and engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detailed drawings
9. Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facility acquisitions
10. Review and estimate design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, and other related costs
11. Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules
Requirements
12. Qualified electrician or engineering background with experience in electrical infrastructure and facility systems
13. Proven experience managing maintenance of electrical, life safety, and security systems in industrial or commercial environments
14. Experience using computerised asset management systems and maintaining accurate site documentation
15. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards
16. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate with vendors, and oversee teams
17. Ability to plan, design, and review facility layouts, construction feasibility, and technical specifications
18. Proficient in preparing cost estimates, bid documents, and contracts
19. Excellent problem-solving skills and technical troubleshooting abilities
