Healthcare Information Systems Specialist
The role of a Healthcare Information Systems Specialist is pivotal in the implementation, support, and optimization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This individual plays a key part in ensuring that the EHR system meets clinical, regulatory, and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* EHR System Implementation & Support: The specialist will serve as an expert in Meditech modules, with the goal of becoming proficient across multiple modules to enable knowledge sharing and cross-cover.
* Troubleshooting and resolving EHR-related issues through the hospital's ticketing system, escalating complex issues as needed.
* Supporting the transition from paper to digital processes, aligning with the hospital's Paper-lite strategy.
Clinical Workflow Optimization:
* Working directly with clinicians and hospital staff to streamline workflows, enhance data collection processes, and optimize system usability.
* Conducting end-to-end testing of EHR features and customized data entry points to ensure clinical accuracy and safety.
Project Leadership & Process Improvement:
* Leading assigned EHR projects from planning through delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams including clinical, IT, data, and vendor stakeholders.
* Driving continuous process improvement initiatives, with a focus on improving clinical documentation, reducing redundancy, and ensuring alignment with hospital goals.
Data Management & Analytics:
* Collaborating with data analysts and quality teams to create reports supporting QIPs, KPIs, and compliance monitoring.
* Analyzing clinical data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improved patient outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a nursing qualification and/or relevant Information Technology qualification. They should also have strong knowledge of clinical workflows and EHR systems, understanding of healthcare regulations and standards, including data protection and compliance. Experience with Meditech or clinical business applications is desirable, along with at least one year of previous hospital experience.
