Financial Controller required for a well-established manufacturing company in Donegal.
Reporting to the Managing Director.
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations and performance of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analysing data, preparing financial reports, and providing strategic guidance to the management team.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and presenting accurate financial reports, including monthly management accounts, quarterly and annual reporting packs including annual financial statements (P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet) in accordance with IFRS/ local accounting standards.
* Developing and managing the budget and forecasting processes to build robust annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
* Managing month-end financial and inventory closing processes with precision and efficiency.
* Preparing year-end Statutory Accounts.
* Monitoring daily cashflow and hedging foreign currency effectively.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT, RTD, Intrastat, and PAYE filings.
* Leading cost analysis, pricing strategies, and margin reviews to align financial performance with business objectives.
* Overseeing internal controls, risk management, and financial compliance activities.
* Collaborating with the Board to develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and long-term plans.
* Monitoring and analysing variances to budget and highlighting issues to the relevant teams in a timely manner.
* Assisting in long-term financial planning and strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and data-driven recommendations.
* Analysing product and project profitability, evaluating pricing strategies, and providing recommendations for improving profitability.
* Continuously identifying areas for process improvement within the finance department and working with the team to implement efficiency-enhancing measures.
* Managing the finance team to foster a high-performance culture.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field combined with a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA) is required.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience as financial controller in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
* Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems, with a strong knowledge of Excel and other data analysis tools.
* System implementation experience.
* Strong work ethic and a continuous improvement mentality.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
* Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
* A self-starter and adaptable to change.
