Mechanical Engineer Heavy Engineering & Manufacturing (Co.The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.Limerick) We are recruiting for a local engineering and manufacturing firm based in County Limerick that provides bespoke heavy-duty equipment for a range of markets.We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join their technical department, focusing on product development, manufacturing support, and design optimisation.This role offers a balance of office-based design work and hands-on engagement with the production facility, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to delivery.Core Responsibilities Design Optimisation: Improve existing mechanical systems and structures, focusing on durability, weight reduction, and enhanced performance for heavy-duty applications.Manufacturing Engineering: Serve as the technical bridge between the design office and the fabrication shop, resolving engineering challenges during the build of complex assemblies.BOM Management: Oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure seamless procurement and production scheduling.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimise fabrication and assembly processes, particularly within steel manufacturing and component integration.Technical Compliance: Ensure all products meet rigorous international safety standards and customer-specific technical requirements through detailed inspection and validation.Candidate Profile & Compensation Essential Criteria Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.13 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role, ideally within transport, heavy plant, or industrial machinery manufacturing.Proficiency in 3 D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings.Practical knowledge of steel fabrication, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.A proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills and a hands-on technical mindset.Compensation Salary Range: €40,000 €50,000 per annum (Negotiable based on specific experience).Location: County Limerick, Ireland.
