Prepare and delivers lessons in accordance with early years curriculum and encourages and stimulates children's learning.
Teaches basic songs/rhymes targeted towards age, reads stories and organises various activities to promote language, social and physical development
Supervises and cares for children, provides a secure learning environment and ensuring their health and safety is always maintained while in the care of the school.
Supervise teaching assistants and trainees. Support and mentor where necessary.
Observe and assess children and discuss their progress with parents and/or other education professionals
Hold 1:1 parent teacher meetings once yearly at least for children transitioning to primary school the following year to discuss school readiness, and or areas that need support. In toddler rooms discuss daily how the child enjoyed the day and any new or interesting experiences offered to the child.
Care for the environment they teach in, indoor and outdoor.
Complete a daily risk assessment of the areas that will be used on a daily basis.
Do all the necessary temperature checks for handwashing water temperatures, room temperatures, sleep room temperatures etc
Report hazards, breakages, resources missing etc to management.
Engage in a proactive way to all suggestions that management make in relation to the activities on offer to the children or suggest alternatives.
