Role Requirements
The key elements that constitute the role of Victims and Survivors Outreach Worker are as follows:
Role Requirement 1
Co-ordination and Delivery of Needs Assessments
* Engage with vulnerable and marginalised victims and survivors and/or families.
* Keep up to date with relevant statutory, private and voluntary sector services available to victims and survivors and their families and work to identify support pathways.
* Through the needs assessment consultation, support victims and survivors to access and engage with support services.
* Act as the first point of contact for enquiries from victims and survivors.
* Liaise with relevant agencies/community services in a professional manner, ensuring that complex and sensitive information is communicated with empathy and reassurance and within the boundaries of Data Protection legislation.
* Facilitate introductory meetings between client and service provider where relevant.
* Encourage client feedback and be open and responsive to communicate feedback where relevant.
Role Requirement 2
Administration, Record Keeping and Processes
* Ensure adequate and appropriate record keeping and that relevant databases are updated on a regular basis.
* Record and monitor client progress based on identified needs.
* Ensure that all needs assessments, records and associated processes are maintained to the standard required for auditing and monitoring and evaluation by VSS (lead partner).
* Adhere to the security/processing of sensitive and confidential client information in keeping with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
* Report any risks, issues and/or concerns to Pobal line manager.
* Record client feedback and communicate to Project Officer for the documentation of key learning.
Role Requirement 3
Personal Development, Performance and Professionalism
* Adhere to the requirement for confidentiality of personal information and be personally accountability and maintain high level of ethical practice.
* Attend and participate in any training relevant to the role.
Role Requirement 4
Teamwork
* Engage in regular support and communications within the team.
* Provide regular updates to the relevant staff members.
* Support the effective administration of the PULSE Victims and Survivors Project
* Minute taking at internal/external programme/unit related meetings
* Support the development of knowledge through effective team communication and feedback to include standardised responses and issues to queries.
Required Experience
* 1 year + experience working with or in the interests of victims and survivors of the Conflict/Troubles.
* Demonstrate experience of effectively engaging with and building positive relationships with clients in situations where they have been vulnerable.
* Demonstrate experience of successfully prioritising and managing your own workload while also communicating effectively with colleagues and management.
Qualifications
* Professional or equivalent qualification in a relevant area such as mental health, social care or counselling.
OR
* Possess Leaving Certificate Pass at Ordinary Level in four subjects including English AND have 2 years voluntary/paid experience equivalent to 16 hours per week in a community/voluntary/statutory environment working with individuals with mental health and/or physical health issues.
Other
* Ability and willingness to travel to locations in the ROI Border Counties, Ireland and N. Ireland.
