PE Global is recruiting for a Project Lead on behalf of a global pharmaceutical company. This is an initial 12-month contract role, fully remote role.
Candidate must be based in Ireland.
Background
:
The client is rolling out our Shop Floor Integration Layer (SIL) program using Inductive Automation's Ignition platform across multiple sites, and it's a key initiative for seamless manufacturing connectivity. To keep things on track and avoid delays, the team is proposing we add a Project Lead /Project Engineer on the business side. This role will handle coordination, planning, and issue escalation without the full weight of a traditional Project Manager, while staying deeply grounded in site-level work. Given the program's focus, the role should
ideally be positioned in the EU (vs. USA)
for better alignment with site operations and time zones.
Why We Need This
: The SIL program is essential for our digital manufactory maturity, enabling real-time data flow, automation, and efficiency in manufacturing. Ignitions' SCADA/MES capabilities require site-specific adaptations, and our current team is stretched. This role will bridge global goals with hands-on site execution, gathering requirements, documenting standards, and advancing progress to ensure we hit milestones and manage risks effectively. Most importantly this role would be dedicated to
SIL and driving the execution
as well as the
change management
.
Role Details:
Mid-level role with 5+ years' experience in project engineering or management, ideally with automation project management in pharma industry, industrial automation (Ignition SCADA/MES, shop floor integration, etc..). No direct reports but works with site PMs and global teams. Positioned in EU for proximity to key sites and practical grounding.
Key Responsibilities
:
1. Build detailed project plans for each site, including milestones, resources, and Ignition setups.
2. Work with site PMs to customize plans, factoring in local needs and challenges.
3. Follow up on tasks daily/weekly using tools like MS Teams or Ignition reports to stay on schedule.
4. Send weekly updates to the global team with progress, risks, and integration metrics.
5. Manage scope changes formally, checking impacts on timelines and system integrity.
6. Flag and escalate issues (technical or integration-related) quickly for resolution.
7. Track and coordinate support from the global team, like expertise or funding.
8. Develop and document standards for shop floor integration, ensuring consistency across sites via Ignition.
9. Gather key requirements from sites through consultations, workshops, or surveys to inform plans and standards.
10. Advance the work forward overall, staying grounded in site realities to drive practical implementation and problem-solving.
11. Expected travel up to 50% to EU and other sites globally.
