Purpose of the Role
As a Shift Manager, you will act as the main point of contact for all matters arising in operational activities on your shift, as well as all people’s management activities within your rostered team. You will champion and drive the core values of the company and act as a leader to your team.
Responsibilities
Performance Management – act as first point of contact for complaints and carry out grievance and disciplinary procedures as relevant.
Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly one‑to‑one meetings for the overall team.
Manage all escalations that may arise within your area.
Create and distribute communications to all employees in conjunction with the Director of Operations and HR Department.
Administer Softworks system – create, amend and approve timesheets.
Manage shift changes, vacation approvals and coverage in Softworks and oversee absence and overtime needs.
Handle R&R Administration.
Perform performance reviews and ratings.
Participate in internal and external recruitment, candidate identification, interviews and offer recommendations.
Maintain regular liaison with the HR Department.
Lead safety initiatives: manage safety training requirements, conduct incident/accident investigations, and ensure safety compliance across all shift areas.
Own the creation, review and analysis of Action Requests (ARs) and support the Operations meeting.
Champion and monitor key metrics, gather performance data, and present area KPIs to customers.
Prepare and deliver focus meetings, stand‑downs, toolbox talks and other training activities.
Collect and manage data for reporting and dashboard population.
Mentor on root cause analysis and monitor group training inclusive of direct reports.
Serve as the primary customer point of contact and deliver priority changes to service and the team.
Control customer dashboards, provide communications and engage in general interaction.
Attend customer meetings as required and perform any other duties reasonably required as part of the role.
Qualifications & Requirements
Level 7 Management qualification desired but not essential.
Experience in a leadership role within a high‑volume manufacturing environment or a similar industry.
Ability to prioritise and maintain oversight across several functional areas.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Working knowledge of Time & Attendance system management and its functional use.
Ability to wear PPE in a Cleanroom environment.
100% compliance with all safety and protocol specifications and regulations.
Physical stamina to stand, stoop, walk and reach for the duration of a 12‑hour shift (breaks excluded).
