Overview
As an experienced structural engineer, you will lead the Structural Engineering Team in our Dublin office as a Senior Associate Structural Engineer and will contribute to winning new work and developing more junior staff. You will be responsible for delivering a range of projects including those in education, transport, emergency services, industrial and health sectors.
About the business unit
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors: Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.
Role overview
As an experienced structural engineer, you will lead the Structural Engineering Team in our Dublin office and will also contribute to the winning of new work and the development of more junior staff. You will be responsible for delivering a range of projects including those in education, transport, emergency services, industrial and health sectors.
Key responsibilities
* Designing or managing the design of building projects at all project design stages, for design and build, and traditionally procured projects
* Checking and reviewing structural designs
* Managing projects, responsible for Mott MacDonald internal governance and project management processes
* Coordination of Mott MacDonald interfaces with clients, stakeholders and design team members
* Technical, procedural, and behavioural leadership, and mentoring of more junior staff, to ensure minimum standards of health and safety, quality, and ethics are maintained in undertaking all project and other activities
* Business development including developing and maintaining client and contractor relationships and producing or contributing to winning proposals for new work
* Maximising profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations
* Demonstrating technical expertise, providing in depth knowledge and leadership whilst proactively supporting, coaching and developing team members
Candidate specification
Required for the position of the Structural Engineering Team Lead for Dublin:
* A degree in a relevant engineering discipline
* Chartered engineer (MIEI, MIStructE or equivalent)
* Working knowledge and experience of building design Eurocodes and standards
* Experience of delivering projects using industry standard design software
* The ability to lead and coordinate production of high-quality engineering deliverables
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders
* The ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams, either participating or leading, on engineering led projects, typically industrial projects
* A clear understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and good practice, including roles and responsibilities under Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Construction Regulations
* Commercial awareness and knowledge of standard Irish forms of contract
* Willingness and ability to coach or mentor others
