Financial Accountant - Cork
Cpl are working with a well-known, nationally recognised organisation seeking a Financial Accountant to join their Cork-based finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or recently qualified (up to 1 year PQE) ACA/ACCA accountant to take on a broad and commercially focused role within a dynamic business.
The position offers exposure across financial and management accounting, business partnering, and project work within a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage day-to-day accounting activities including journal postings, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintenance of ledgers.
2. Support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results.
3. Prepare management accounts and assist in variance analysis against budget and forecast.
4. Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
5. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and business performance reviews.
6. Assist in financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and reporting.
7. Liaise with auditors and support the preparation of statutory accounts.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
8. Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or equivalent, ideally with up to 1 year post-qualification experience.
9. Strong technical accounting knowledge and an interest in commercial finance.
10. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
11. Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems is desirable.
12. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines in a collaborative environment.
13. Ambitious, detail-oriented, and eager to develop a career within a progressive finance team.
