Offer description

As Earthworks Foreperson, you will oversee day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring all work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will lead and motivate your team, coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients, and ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise on-site teams, including plant operators and subcontractors, ensuring work is carried out safely and to specification.
* Coordinate daily activities and communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and planners to maintain schedule and budget.
* Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and regulations.
* Enforce health and safety guidelines, conduct risk assessments, and maintain a safe working environment.
* Manage materials, tools, and equipment allocation, ensuring efficient usage and availability.
* Identify and resolve site issues promptly to minimize delays or disruptions.
* Oversee ground preparation, including cut-and-fill operations and drainage layers.
* Operate and manage heavy plant, such as dozers, excavators, graders, rollers, and GPS-controlled equipment.
* Ensure accurate levels, compaction, and material handling for subgrade and base layers.

Requirements

* Minimum 5 years in earthworks or civil construction, with proven supervisory experience.
* Expertise in excavation, grading, compaction, and drainage works.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and set out levels.
* Familiarity with GPS-controlled equipment and laser levelling systems.
* Understanding of heavy machinery operations (dozers, excavators, graders, rollers) and safe handling procedures.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and site safety management.
* Ability to lead teams, coordinate subcontractors, and communicate effectively with engineers and project managers.
* Skilled in identifying and resolving site issues promptly to avoid delays.
