Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) Location: Limerick Full-Time - 3 Month Temporary Initial Contract | 35 hours per week Salary- €46,827 -€72,356 depending on previous verified public sector experience We are seeking an Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) to promote regular school attendance and support children and families experiencing barriers to education.
This is a full-time temporary role (35 hours per week) involving close work with schools, families and partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities Promote school attendance and engagement with pupils, families and communities.
Support schools to develop attendance strategies and positive school cultures.
Work directly with families to address attendance difficulties and re-engage children in education.
Track and support children who have disengaged from education and assist with their return to school.
Inspect school attendance records and ensure compliance with the Educational (Welfare) Act ****.
Liaise with schools, HSCL Coordinators, SCP staff and other child welfare agencies.
Prepare reports and, where necessary, initiate legal proceedings under the Act.
Essential Requirements QQI Level 8 (or higher) qualification (or equivalent recognised in Ireland) in Health, Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Arts / Humanities, Youth or Community Work (or related discipline).
Minimum of 3 years front-line experience working with vulnerable or at-risk children and families.
Full driving licence and access to transport (role involves travel).
