Senior Nursing Leader
The Senior Nursing Leader will support the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day clinical and operational management of a nursing home, ensuring a high standard of evidence-based care.
The role will play a key part in quality improvement, governance, compliance, staff management, and resident wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the DON in leading and supervising the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
* Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure they meet current HIQA standards.
* Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Oversee infection prevention and control measures in line with updated HIQA guidance.
* Assist in preparing for, responding to, and following up on HIQA inspections and audits.
* Maintain and update required documentation, including risk registers, incident logs, care plans, and audit results.
* Supervise, mentor, and support nursing and care staff, promoting continuous professional development.
* Participate in recruitment, onboarding, rostering, and performance appraisals.
* Facilitate regular team meetings, clinical supervision, and reflective practice sessions.
* Promote dignity, autonomy, and choice for all residents in a safe, inclusive environment.
* Act as a key point of contact for residents and families, handling concerns or complaints professionally and in line with policy.
* Support the DON in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and policy development.
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the development of the annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
