Electrical and Mechanical Expert Role
The Chief Engineer oversees the maintenance and operation of data centers. Their responsibilities include ensuring peak efficiency through planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response.
This involves collaborating with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians and third-party vendors on large-scale projects and supporting operations within owned and operated data centers.
Key areas of focus include creating and delivering project milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for necessary costs, and documenting project results for future implementation.
As a subject matter expert, the Chief Engineer provides hands-on training to Engineering Operations Technicians in electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations.
Site-specific training exercises are implemented for various equipment such as diesel generators, switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
A strong understanding of UPS systems, backup generator systems, and generic mechanical-room infrastructure is essential for this role.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, equivalent qualifications, and experience in data center operations, along with skills in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
