Responsibilities:
* Read and understand the Company's Safety Statement and ensure that it is brought to the notice of any employee under your control.
* Ensure that information affecting the health and safety of any person on a proposed site is communicated to the Regional Director/Project Manager/Site Agent.
* Identify underground services and ground conditions affecting excavation stability and safety.
* Report any unsafe situations observed on site to the Site Manager.
* Perform work safely, using protective clothing and equipment, especially when working near public roads or water.
* Maintain records of underground services, marking them during construction.
* Verify design calculations and certificates for temporary works like scaffolds and falsework.
* If the Project Manager/Site Agent is absent, the Site Engineer will assume health, safety, and environmental responsibilities.
* Familiarize with HSQE management systems and current statutory HSE legislation.
* Understand the implications of contract variations on program and costs.
* Monitor the construction program and manage overruns' impact on costs and manpower.
* Review specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
* Set out, level, and survey the site according to drawings and specifications.
* Prepare labor, plant, and material returns, as-built drawings, technical reports, and site diaries.
* Coordinate with purchasing to ensure purchase orders meet project requirements.
* Requisition materials and plant.
* Communicate with consultants, subcontractors, site supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the workforce.
* Manage the site daily, supervising labor and subcontractors.
* Plan work and organize resources to meet deadlines.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager regarding construction schedules and constraints.
* Ensure compliance with safety requirements.
* Resolve technical issues with stakeholders and authorities.
* Maintain quality control according to procedures and plans.
* Check materials and work progress for compliance with requirements.
About You
Requirements:
* A Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience, preferably with modules in Water/Wastewater.
* Membership in a relevant Professional Institution.
* Relevant experience through work or volunteer placements, with a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
* Fluent in English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
