Assistant Buyer My client, an Irish-owned family food business, is seeking a diligent Assistant Buyer to join their team in South Dublin.
This is an amazing opportunity to join a long-established company with a reputation for distributing innovative products and services.
You will be responsible for working with suppliers to purchase key products to fulfil customer requirements, and for commercial pricing and communication with the required stakeholders.
Package Generous salary doe Bonus Pension Agile working hours Generous annual leave Career progression Opportunities Responsibilities of this Assistant Buyer include: Full category management of the beverages and snack department.
Open and maintain product codes, keeping all product data accurate and up to date.
Set and manage pricing within margin targets, working closely with sales.
Implement price updates quickly and correctly and communicate changes to customers and sales.
Resolve pricing queries from suppliers/customers in a timely, professional way.
Ensure customer ordering portals reflect current product and pricing details.
Build strong relationships with key suppliers and source new partners when needed.
Identify category gaps/opportunities and stay informed on market trends to support negotiations.
Manage supplier samples, including receiving, logging, and dispatch.
Maintain systems and currency/cost files and carry out ad hoc testing as required.
Review margin reports to spot errors or erosion, and prepare ad hoc/monthly reports (samples, rebates).
Support seasonal/promotional launches, sign off documentation/samples, and assist on commercial projects.
Negotiate pricing/terms and support wider team priorities as required.
Requirements of this Assistant Buyer include: Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a fast-paced environment; food service/FMCG buying or commercial experience desirable.
Strong commercial and margin focus, with solid negotiation and supplier-management skills.
Confident managing third-party relationships and multiple priorities.
Excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving ability; proactive and able to work on own initiative.
Advanced Excel essential; strong MS Office skills overall.
ERP/system knowledge desirable; food industry knowledge a plus but not essential.
