About the Role
The Person in Charge (PIC) has responsibility for the effective provision and operation of services to adults in the specified Ability West Service which provides residential and short break respite services. The PIC ensures compliance with organisational policies, procedures, national legislation including Health Act 2007 and HIQA regulations and acts as the designated centre manager.
Key Duties
Overall general direction and day-to-day operation of the designated centre.
Ensure a home-like atmosphere and that health, recreational and other needs of residents are adequately met.
Establish and maintain respectful, equality-based relationships that promote independence.
Manage and monitor the annual budget, including staffing and all expenditure, working with Finance to produce budgets that support operational plans.
Maintain proper accounting procedures for residents' accounts and personal monies, ensuring safeguards in accordance with capacity and arrangements.
Develop and implement person‑centred programmes reflecting each person's aspirations and needs.
Consult with other centres, professional support staff, parents and visitors, attending to them with tact and consideration.
Promote and maintain a safe environment through Health & Safety policies, risk management and relevant regulations.
Facilitate resident participation in community activities and raise awareness of the group home.
Prepare and submit required records, reports and weekly HR updates, logging incidents on QMIS.
Entertain driving duties (fleet vehicles or own transport) if qualified and meet organisational criteria.
Coordinate administration, supervise and record prescribed medication in line with policies.
Prepare staff rosters, ensuring budget compliance, skill mix, and reviewing with the Area Service Manager.
Manage, supervise and develop permanent and relief staff, identifying and pursuing training needs.
Conduct staff development and support meetings in line with agreed guidelines.
Perform any other duties required to meet essential criteria.
Essential Criteria
Minimum 3 years of experience in a health or social care management or supervisory role.
Holder of a Level 7 or higher health-related third-level qualification (QQI framework in nursing, social care or health science).
Possession of an NMBI registration.
Relevant management qualification.
Proven track record of managing a residential service that meets quality, regulatory and legislative requirements.
Proven record of budget management.
Experience in report writing, personal support plans and roster management.
Current driving licence.
Excellent IT skills.
Working knowledge of legislative/regulatory requirements and responsibilities.
