Spencer Recruitment is partnering with a well known advocacy and engagement organisation to appoint a Head of Communications.
This is a senior leadership role at the centre of an organisation focused on strengthening public engagement with the EU, broadening civic participation, and supporting informed public debate in Ireland.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the successful candidate will lead and deliver an integrated communications function spanning media relations, digital communications, campaigns, public affairs, brand and marketing.

The role
Lead and deliver the organisation’s communications strategy
Oversee media relations across national, regional and local media
Drive digital communications, brand development and audience growth
Support campaigns, advocacy activity and public-facing initiatives
Provide strategic communications support to senior leadership
Act as spokesperson when required
Manage content across website, social media and wider channels
Lead and support a small communications team
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy
Build and maintain strong media relationships
Create high-quality content across multiple platforms
Lead digital and brand transformation projects
Support external partnerships and visibility-building opportunities
Advise leadership on communications planning and emerging issues
Deliver campaigns that support the organisation’s objectives
Monitor performance and impact across communications activity
Manage day-to-day communications operations and planning
About you
5+ years’ experience in communications, digital media, public affairs, journalism or a related field
Strong media relations and communications background
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong digital communications capability
Experience delivering campaigns and managing multiple projects
Comfortable advising senior stakeholders
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
Interest in public affairs, current affairs or EU-related issues
Irish language skills a plus
