Prep Chef / Kitchen Porter – Full-Time & Part-Time

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a hardworking and reliable Prep Chef / Kitchen Porter to join our busy hospitality team across The Flying Enterprise, The Courtyard on Sober Lane, and News Quay in Cork City.
This is a key back-of-house role supporting our chefs and kitchen team. You'll assist with food preparation, maintain high cleaning standards, and ensure the kitchen runs smoothly during service. You'll also be trusted to assist with opening and closing duties, ensuring the kitchen is ready for daily operations or securely closed after service.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and storage.
* Support kitchen service by ensuring prep is completed on time and to standard.
* Operate dishwashers and maintain cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and utensils.
* Clean and sanitise work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout and after service.
* Receive and store deliveries, ensuring correct labelling and stock rotation (FIFO).
* Handle waste management and recycling in accordance with company policy.
* Assist with opening and closing duties, including kitchen setup, cleaning, and lock-up procedures.
* Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to maintain smooth operations.
* Follow all Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and HACCP requirements.
About You
* Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment desirable (training provided).
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
* Reliable, hardworking, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
* Trustworthy and capable of handling opening and closing responsibilities.
* Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks (lifting, cleaning, moving stock).
* Must have valid permission to work in Ireland.
