About the Role
As a Staff Nurse in Oncology, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a collaborative team environment. This role requires at least 1 year of post-registration oncology experience, and eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Bord of Ireland (NMBI) is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver exceptional patient care, ensuring the highest possible standards of care are maintained at all times.
* Act as a preceptor to preregistration students, mentor new clinical staff, and support colleagues when needed.
* Liaise with consultants, nursing teams, multidisciplinary teams, patients, and carers to identify and discuss nursing/patient needs.
* Accept responsibility for the holistic care of a named group of patients on a shift basis.
Clinical Excellence
You will be expected to demonstrate and promote research-based nursing care, maintaining personal and professional development through ongoing CPD. Familiarity with departmental and hospital-wide policies, including Clinical Risk Reporting Policy, Occupational Health, Facilities Management, Patient Moving and Handling, Resuscitation/Basic Life Support, and Health and Safety, is also required.
Professional Development
This role offers opportunities for growth and advancement, including the assessment and allocation of workload to maintain patient and staff safety. You will be responsible for managing your workload to ensure that patient care needs are met and that you and your colleagues can take allocated breaks. Additionally, you will be required to develop appropriate IT skills to work efficiently within the clinical environment and have a working knowledge of Isoft and other IT systems.
