Nurse Specialist service to the designated geographical areas and to work as part of the community services multi-disciplinary team.Purpose of the PostThe overall purpose of this CNS post is to:To provide a quality, evidence based and family centred nursing interventions and support to children and young people (0 – 18 years) with complex needs within an interdisciplinary framework and to support other staff and students as assigned.This post will involve having a Key Contact role for children, nursing assessments, intervention, IFSP’s with families, programme planning and implementation and reviews.It will also include Team assessments and joint interventions.Service provision may include directive, monitoring and consultative approaches.To work as part of the Clinical Nurse Specialist team and WCCDNTS team to provide Nursing supports .to children within WCCDNT.To provide clinical support to Coaction's Children’s Services.Working Relationships: To work within the West Cork Children’s Disability Network Team (WCCDNT)To work as a member of the inter-disciplinary team.Liaise and establish relations with other agencies and services.Main ResponsibilitiesClinicalTo deliver a quality service to children and families.To provide specialist nursing intervention for children and young people who are enrolled in the service.To be responsible for managing and prioritising within own cases and as part of the team.Be responsible for assessing the care needs and developing nursing care pathways.To be responsible for working as part of a team, liaising with other disciplines and fostering good working relationships and practices.To be responsible for keeping abreast of developments in the assessment and interventions for children and young people with complex needs.To undertake and participate in audits as required.To be responsible for fieldwork education of nursing students.To ensure positive representation of Nursing service at all times.Provide supervision for other Nurses within the policy, procedures, protocols and guidelines for theteam and in agreement with the line management system.Support staff grade Nurses to identify competency requirements and training/skills required.To undertake the development of new systems and protocol for service delivery and effective time management.To impart skills to other staff via training.To continually enhance presentation skills.To work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and participate in staff meetings and case conferences.To assist in the organisation of Universal and Targeted Workshops within Nursing Team and Joint Multidisciplinary Workshops.To attend, on occasion, meetings outside working hours.To keep accurate up-to-date records.ManagementParticipation in planning groups and committees related to the ongoing development of the service.Active involvement in the compilation, delivery and evaluation of training with the organisation.Management of resources, currently available and application for resources where there is a need.To manage the development of the role of the Children Disability Nurse/ Clinical Nurse Specialist working with children and young people with complex needs.Be responsible for personal time management and management of caseload.Department responsibilities or administration duties as required.Attend and participate in in-service programmes.Actively engage in professional and personal development initiatives.To enhance the Nurse Service within the organisation.Participate effectively in the performance management system that operates within the organisation.Adhere to Health and Safety regulations at all times.To maintain the highest level of client confidentiality at all times.To contribute in a positive and or an equivalent qualification in Nursing – RNID and or RCNMinimum of 5 years post qualification experienceMinimum of 3 years working at a senior level, or in a supervisory capacityMinimum of 3 years' experience working with children with disabilities, (physical disability, autism, learning disability) and their familiesHave a current Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)Be eligible to work in the stateDemonstrate the ability to provide staff supervision training and developmentDesirable Criteria:Post graduate diploma/ degree in management or health related
