Wearerecruitingforan Automation Engineer to support our continued growth. This position will include responsibility for automation and control systems design, specification, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance on municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, drinking water treatment plants, and various pumping stations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Developing an IO list, hardware specification, and PLC HMI programs based on an FDS or Control Philosophy.
2. Onsite commissioning of PLC systems with electrical commissioning engineers.
3. Implementing code changes on automation systems under change control.
4. Investigating and providing technical advice and support to process engineers and other disciplines on automation issues.
5. Operating according to SOPs developed for site engineering and maintenance.
6. Partnering with different disciplines to deliver automation projects per guidelines.
7. Generating documentation and SOPs for automation systems as required.
8. Supporting the tendering department on automation projects, including hardware specification and programming time estimation.
9. Managing the specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects within budget and guidelines.
10. Providing technical support for operations regarding PLCs & HMI's: Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Schneider, or Unitronics.
11. Supporting engineering staff with fieldbus/communication protocols, SCADA packages, M2M platforms.
Key Competences and Skills:
Working knowledge of:
* Fieldbus/Communication protocols: CanBus, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus, CC-link, Modbus, Modbus TCP, Ethernet IP, ProfiNet.
* SCADA packages: Wonderware Intouch, Indusoft, Citect, Broadwin, Iconics, OPC Servers.
* M2M platforms: Leased Line, GSM, GPRS/3G, Broadband, Fibre, Radio modems, Telemetry.
Qualifications:
* BEng in Engineering or equivalent, or trade-qualified Electrician.
* Recent graduates or electricians seeking to upskill are also encouraged to apply.
* Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and vision systems in an operating environment.
* Full driving license.
