Job Title: Staff Grade Physiotherapist – Acute Inpatient Services Location: Limerick Contract Type: Full-time Hours: 35 hours per week Salary: HSE Aligned (Staff Grade)
Excel Recruitment is proud to be recruiting a Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join an acute hospital team in Limerick.

About the Role:
As a Staff Grade Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of patients across a range of acute inpatient wards including medical, surgical, orthopaedics, and rehabilitation.
You'll work in a supportive team with senior guidance, and contribute to early mobilisation, safe discharge, and improving patient outcomes across the board.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patients using appropriate outcome measures and clinical reasoning
Develop and implement individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans based on patient-specific goals
Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions including: Mobilisation and rehabilitation post-surgery, Neurological rehabilitation and functional and strength-based rehab for frailty, deconditioning, or long-term conditions
Independently manage a varied caseload across acute medical, surgical, orthopaedics, neurology, ICU, or care of the elderly
Prioritise patients effectively based on clinical urgency and ward demands
Participate in rapid discharge pathways, early supported discharge, and weekend planning
Actively participate in daily ward rounds, MDT case reviews, and discharge planning meetings
Collaborate with consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and discharge coordinators to ensure safe and timely discharges
Communicate effectively with patients and families about goals, progress, and post-discharge care What to Expect: A dynamic and forward-thinking hospital environment committed to continuous improvement.
Exposure to complex caseloads in ICU, emergency care, and inpatient rehabilitation.
Supportive management and mentorship from a highly experienced physiotherapy leadership team.

Contribution to student education and practice development through established UCD placement links.
Requirements: BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
Current CORU registration as a Physiotherapist.
A minimum of 6 months inpatient experience within an Irish hospital setting (or a similar acute hospital abroad with transferable experience)
Confidence managing a varied caseload of acute adult patients
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based approach
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.
Strong documentation and clinical reasoning abilities.
Willingness to participate in weekend/bank holiday rotas.
