Head of Health and Safety - Ireland Our client is a well-established large main contractor operating in the UK, Ireland, and select countries in Europe.
They are involved in capital projects for large pharma, technology, and food companies, constructing either turnkey or substructure projects ranging from €30 million to €150 million.
They are seeking an experienced health and safety professional to lead their H&S operations on projects in Ireland.
Location flexibility can be discussed directly with the recruiter.
Duties: Supervise teams of safety advisors and managers across multiple projects, reporting to an Operations Director, and manage the team to ensure all safety duties are fulfilled.
Maintain records of statutory inspections for all activities and plant equipment.
Conduct regular site audits and inspections as directed by the Safety Management System.
Deliver and complete statutory notifications to the Health & Safety Authority, including incident/accident reporting and conducting inspector site visits as required.
Deliver health and safety induction programmes for new employees and contractors.
Serve as the client representative at site meetings.
Organise and chair safety meetings for client and subcontractor personnel.
Ensure subcontractor safety statements and method statements are available on site; assess and assist with these documents as needed.
Advise and assist site management in drafting and communicating method statements.
Compile, update, and communicate site emergency plans.
Conduct preliminary accident investigations and statutory notifications, updating the Group Safety Officer.
Ensure First Aiders are available, supplies are stocked, and certifications are up to date.
Collect and collate information for the safety file and prepare for project handover to the client.
Requirements: Health and Safety certification, diploma, or degree is essential.
10+ years of experience in health and safety roles.
Previous experience managing safety on construction sites.
Excellent communication, leadership, training, and presentation skills.
Experience in the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.
