Project Manager – Sligo (Site-Based)

A well-established Irish main contractor is seeking a Project Manager to lead site operations for construction projects in the Sligo region. This is a senior-level, site-based role suited to a candidate with solid delivery experience across all project phases. You’ll be the primary lead on-site, reporting to a Contracts Manager, and coordinating the full project team and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Construction Management
* Oversee day-to-day operations and supervise all labour and subcontractors
* Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, planners, and QS to ensure timely and quality delivery
* Serve as first point of contact on-site for client, design team, and stakeholder communications
* Monitor progress against contract programme and flag risks or delays to Contracts Manager
* Lead the site team in delivering the project to agreed timelines, budget, and quality standards
* Manage requisitions for materials and plant, ensuring timely delivery
* Ensure housekeeping, professionalism, and site behaviour standards are upheld
* Maintain weekly records of labour, plant, and materials for reporting to Head Office
Health & Safety Compliance
* Work closely with EHS Advisor and Contracts Manager to ensure full compliance with safety protocols
* Conduct daily briefings and ensure subcontractors adhere to approved risk assessments and method statements
* Prepare risk assessments and method statements as needed
* Report incidents and accidents in line with company policy
* Drive a Zero Harm safety culture across the site
Technical & Quality Oversight
* Supervise engineering functions including setting out and surveying
* Ensure delivery meets specifications, drawings, and inspection/testing requirements
* Resolve technical issues and unexpected challenges on-site
* Manage and maintain up-to-date RFI and submittal registers
* Lead snagging process to ensure defect-free project handover
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
* Lead a multidisciplinary site team with responsibility for mentoring junior staff
* Interface directly with client representatives, designers, and consultants
* Ensure full understanding of contract documents and project scope
* Support development and revision of project programmes with Contracts Manager and Planner
* Champion digital construction tools and BIM where applicable
Candidate Profile
* Relevant degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
* Minimum 7 years’ experience in construction management with proven project management capability
* Experience with public works and RIAI forms of contract is an advantage
* Strong problem-solving, organisational, and time management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting abilities
* Proven leadership qualities and mentoring experience
* Familiar with BIM and modern digital construction tools
* Proficient in MS Office and other construction-related IT systems
* Ability to build strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-responsibility site environment
