About the PositionSite Support Assistants are responsible for the on-site supervision and safety of Kindergarten to 5th-grade students throughout program components for Bay Area Music Project. The position requires patience, ability to engage positively and professionally with children and families, and strong organizational skills. The Site Assistant is a mentor to all students and reinforces rules of safety, kindness, and responsibility in the BAMP community and beyond. This role is a part-time, hourly instructional seasonal employee position.ResponsibilitiesAssist with check-in and dismissal processes during after-school programmingManage children throughout transitions between classes (i.e., snack, bathrooms, lining up, hallways)Assist with setup and strike of equipment for daily programmingEngage with children and families to foster positive relationshipsFacilitate and model healthy conflict resolution between studentsSupervise children during outdoor and indoor free-play time to ensure safety at all timesAssist in facilitating group activities such as crafts, sports, team-building games, etc.Assist with minor first-aid care as necessaryAdministrative DutiesActively participate in appropriate administrative duties related to the role, including but not limited to meeting participation, payroll reporting, staff development activities, and communicationQualificationsExperience with after school programs or camps or willing to learnTraining or familiarity in restorative justice practices and trauma-informed careThe ability to adapt, be flexible and handle emergencies calmly and effectivelyA sense of humor and creative problem skillsThe ability to demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervisionThe ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a team-oriented environmentMust be 18 years or olderBachelor's degree (or in progress) or at least one year experience in related fieldsMust pass live scan fingerprinting (background check) and provide negative TB testsCompensation and BenefitsPay Range: $20-22/hr Depending on ExperiencePaid Time Off: Accrued Sick LeaveJury Duty Leave (up to two weeks)Health & Future:401(k) retirement (opt-in, unmatched)Paid professional development opportunitiesWorkplace DemandsWork Hours - Part-time, hourly with some responsibilities on weekends and/or evenings depending on the program concert calendar.Location - Exposed to changing conditions in indoor, outdoor, and virtual settings-including in school campuses, classrooms, libraries, offices, venues, parks, and other community spaces.Cleanliness & Odors - Clean to moderately clean; Occasionally works with children with varying access to hygiene support.Social - Communicates with youth and adults in one-on-one, small groups, and large groups.Structure & Predictability - Low to Moderate.Physical - Can remain in a stationary position; Can move through crowded and uncrowded spaces with or without assistance; Can use, inspect, and adjust musical instruments; Can communicate and exchange information and ideas; Can discern and assess student musical learning; Can lift and/or transport up to 25lbs. with or without assistance; Can reliably report for work on time at job sites .Light - Lighting is typically fluorescent or natural.Noise - Noise levels range from quiet to loud.
